The local police have identified and arrested George Christian Adamson from Dunwoody, Georgia following the theft of a stolen Chick-Fil-A van from Cartersville’s Market Square location. He was taken into custody on Friday, November 17th   and charged with one count of felony theft by taking. The van is a 2016 white Ford Transit Connect, and the Police believe it was stolen from a Chick-Fil-A parking lot around 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, November 5th.

An incident report made November 8, 2017, states that the van wasn’t reported stolen as soon as it went missing because “no one was sure if the van was not being utilized by an employee.” However, there was video footage of a man taking the van from the restaurant.

The van was found parked and abandoned on the side of a residential street in Acworth Wednesday, November 15th. The police observed that the van had sustained some damage, which they believe was obtained from a hit and run with another vehicle.

The other vehicle was parked in a residential homes driveway. Spokesperson Lt. Mike Bettikofer said, “The homeowner came outside and observed the damage to his vehicle, found the van abandoned in the roadway and called police.” A check was run on the van’s license plate, and it came back as stolen out of Cartersville.

Adamson’s arrest came as a huge relief to the community of Cartersville. The citizens of Cartersville had rallied around the restaurant as it had become a very personal sanctuary to many over the years. The community took the theft as a personal jab because the restaurant has hosted many events and fundraisers over the years to help support the community.
