As of May 19, 2025, Cass High’s class of 2025 will have graduated from high school and moved on to their futures. In the coming weeks, there will be many changes and goodbyes, including in the Cass Trumpet. This year, the Trumpet has four seniors who have written for a semester or more; below are their stories, who they are, and what they will do in the future.
Xavier Rector
Xavier Rector is a talented student who has written for the Trumpet for two semesters. Xavier is best known for his silly and goofy personality; if the Newspaper class had superlatives, he would definitely be in the running for class clown. Some of Xavier’s accomplishments this year were directing a class show, being a part of the school musical, and surviving his college classes. Articles he has written for the class Trumpet are as follows: The Scammys- The Controversy of the 2025 Grammys, A Pioneer of Media During Quarantine Makes its Return, and Navigating the Madness in “March Madness.” Xavier’s position in the newspaper class was fundraiser coordinator, having a hand in orchestrating our pay-to-pie teacher event. In school, Xavier is the treasurer for the Thespian Society and a member of the poetry club. A few of Xavier’s passions are poetry, philosophy, and music. Xavier’s good friend Rodrigo Gomez-Veliz mentioned, “Xavier is one of the funniest individuals I know, and I’m a clown, so I think I have some good judgement on what’s funny. He has this energy I can only call special, even when he’s down in the dumps he carries on, and it’s simply inspiring.” Xavier really knows how to cheer someone up when they’re feeling down and how to fill the journalism class with smiles. After graduation, Xavier plans to attend Columbus University, where he will pursue theatre. Though he doesn’t always acknowledge it, Xavier pushes past his high school potential and proves himself daily. All of his friends and family are so proud of what he’s done, getting offers to over twelve colleges.
Destiny Jenkins
Destiny is one of the newer students of the Cass Trumpet, as this is her first semester in journalism. Destiny is sweet, smart, and funny, fitting in well with the rest of the class. Destiny’s girlfriend, Mylah Merrit, said, “Destiny is the most supportive and caring person I’ve ever known; she is also very kindhearted. She’s has the most funny, bubbly personality when you really know her, she’s literally the best ever.” Destiny is a great friend to everyone who needs it and is a kind and loving person overall. After high school, she plans to go to college to major in cybersecurity and will possibly tattoo as a side gig. Some of Destiny’s article’s on the trumpet include; The Science of love, and Top 5 National Parks and sites to go near Georgia.
Eric Carpenter
Eric Carpenter is the only OG newspaper student recognized in this article, having been in the class for all four semesters since it started back up in 2024. Eric is currently the lead website developer for the Cass Trumpet, who has been working on and fixing up the website for the past few years. (We are very grateful for all of the coding he does because he does it despite not being obliged to do it). Eric has written some articles: Navigating Your First Car Purchase: A High School Student’s Guide to Buying Smart, The Future of Easy Emulation, Siege Sec: The Internet Outlaws, and A Life Well Lived: The Dog Who Defied Age. Though sarcastic and frequently exhausted, Eric has been a great person to work alongside. Some of Eric’s hobbies and passions are working on cars and computers, collecting Hot Wheels, editing videos, and making music. Eric plans to go to a trade school and later become a mechanic, using his skills to their full potential. Eric’s works were crucial to the Trumpet; we couldn’t have done it without him.
Briley Buchanan
Briley is a Junior this year! But she will be graduating early, along with the class of 2025! Briley is a fun and bright person; she enjoys reading and drawing in her free time and is an excellent AP student. Some of the more popular stories she has written for the Trumpet include Agatha All Along: A Preview, Moana 2: A Preview, and Deadpool and Wolverine: An Overview. While writing for the Trumpet, Briley was on our social media team, helping run our Instagram and TikTok. According to one of Briley’s close friends, Brooklynn Hale, “From Early Elementary school to her last day on campus, there’s been nothing but laughs and life talks. I’ll forever be grateful for this person I grew up with.” Briley was a significant contributor to the Trumpet and the morale of others. Those around her will surely miss her, but she’s going on to do great things. After High School, Briley aspires to become a nurse and plans to attend college at Georgia Highlands. She also plans to get her certification to be a realtor and pursue related fields while striving towards her nursing degree.
With that, these are the newspaper seniors for the 2025 school year; as a whole, our staff is so proud of them and their accomplishments in high school. As a reward for all of their hard work and dedication.
