Christmas is coming early this year! Sabrina Carpenter has had a successful 2024 with one of the biggest songs of the year “Espresso”. Sabrina has decided to end the year on a “holiday remix”. A Nonsense Christmas with Sabrina Carpenter is the artist’s new movie on Netflix. It is filled with lighthearted jokes, surprise quests, and Carpenter’s Christmas songs. The Christmas special is not like tradition, Carpenter is not afraid to be put on the naughty list. This nonsense Christmas goes through the ghosted girlfriends of Christmas past, present, and future. Carpenter makes inappropriate jokes about Santa and the movie being TV-14, so she’s allowed to curse.
Sabrina covers classic Christmas songs like “Last Christmas”, “Santa Baby”, and “This Christmas” with surprise guests Tyla, Shania Twain, and Chappel Roan. Carpenter opens the special with her “Buy Me Presents” song from her Christmas album “Fruitcake”. The special includes creative skits about the holiday remix of her song “Nonsense”. Sabrina changed the lyrics to match a Christmas theme, in the song she jokes about Charles Dickens, Christmas tree trimmings, and big snowballs. This special is very goofy and unserious.
Sabrina and Tyla sang “This Christmas”. After Sabrina asked Santa if she could duet with Shania Twain. The two artists sang “Santa baby”. Next Sabrina goes on to do karaoke to the song “Last Christmas” with Chappel Roan.
Between the musical performances, Sabrina spends her time doing funny skits. One being “The Ghosted Girlfriends of Christmas Past, Present, and Future” where actor Nico Hiraga, ghosted his girlfriends and they came to haunt him during Christmas time. In another skit, Carpenter dates who she thinks is just a regular person but turns out he’s actually Santa Claus.
The pop star has many iconic outfit changes during the special. Including the strapless pink dress she opens the show with, the fur coat she wore during her duet with Chappel Roan, and the sparkly red body suit that was worn during the big finale.
Sabrina has bits during the special where she tries to figure out the “Nonsense” outro. This is a creative part of the song where Sabrina writes new lyrics at the end of the song to close out her show. Everyone is eager to hear what she’ll change the lyrics to, at the end of the special Sabrina writes the lyrics “Well here we are my special at its ending/Love you all and thank you for attending/I can’t believe I kept it family friendly” Even though Carpenter makes subtle inappropriate jokes, she still maintained a family-friendly Christmas special.
Sabrina showed us a “not-so-silent night”. This special was filmed in two days. Fans are amazed by this special. Fans are calling Carpenter the new “Queen of Christmas” Overall, the Christmas special was filled with exciting new outfits, amazing songs, and hilarious skits. A Nonsense Christmas is going to be one to remember, creating new iconic moments for Carpenter and her fans.
