As the sun appears to dim, the leaves change color, and pumpkins appear in every corner, you can tell that the fall season has begun. You can tell Fall has started as the comfortable weather slowly shows. It brings a cooling time after the hot summer before the freezing Winter. As we start to recognize these changes arising, many tend to start celebrating the next holiday: Halloween. People tend to enjoy pumpkin patches, visiting haunted houses, trick-or-treating, going to fall festivals, apple picking, carving pumpkins, watching Halloween movies, and baking fall treats. Around the city of Cartersville, many events are planned for every age group to enjoy.
With so many options each year, people will most likely have favorites. Sophomore Madison Smith states, “I like going around the pumpkin patches and shopping around for fall and Halloween items.” After the summer comes to an end, many stores are quick to bring out their fall decor. Home decor shopping, especially for Halloween, is a fun tradition to do annually as well as setting up Spooky decorations outside, costume shopping (for all ages), and going out and getting your seasonal foods and drinks. Many people also enjoy getting pumpkin spice, apple cider, and other flavored items to try. Fall also comes with seasonal delicacies. Pumpkin spice lattes, apple cider donuts, and comforting soups are just a few of the culinary items that people love. Getting warm by the fireplace with a good book or a favorite movie is another fall activity to enjoy during the cooler season
Family events are common, yet important to many people. Family photos are a traditional event in households around the world, and fall is the perfect time for them. Around, you see pumpkin patch photoshoots, “cooler weather” photoshoots, etc. Every fall, social media feeds are filled with people’s comfortable yet adorable family pictures. Sophomore Ansley Smith says, “My parents, my little brother, and I normally get our family pictures done in the fall so we can have the pumpkin patch pictures. They always turn out so good and we love them every year.” Many families and friends also attend fairs, parties, and haunted houses together. Around early September, many places open the doors to their spooky fun. “Cartersville has their own town fair every year which I enjoy, but I especially enjoy the haunted houses that open all around Bartow County.” Just around every part of the city, you can find something to do with the fall season every year. They are a great passing time yet bonding experience with those around you.
The best part of the end of the season though, is Halloween. On October 31st of every year, children and adults across the world dress up in their best costumes and go door to door seeking either a trick, or treat. This gives people the room to show off their creative skills, and relationships with people. Many get matching costumes and enjoy the night with their group of people. Many children and teenagers enjoy being able to pick out their outfits and equipment. With all the excitement and anticipation, yet slight fear, smiles are all around during the season. The cooler weather makes this night very tolerable, and is definitely an amazing way to end a season.
Although there are so many days of the year, the eighty-nine days a year that belong under the season of Fall come with many opportunities, experiences, and memories to be made that you will remember a lifetime. The diverse culture of the spooky season gives many positive emotions to all around. The weather seems perfect to do all the outdoor activities that you can think of, and there’s so much time of the day to do them all.
