New school years mean new staff members. After Donna Thomas sadly retired, Monal Nabulsi came to restore the light. She has been quite pleasant to have at Cass High School. The school, staff and its students made a positive impression on her. Nabulsi stated, “I thought everyone was so friendly and had amazing manners.” The students and staff at Cass High School have made a good and healthy environment for her to be in, which has helped her enjoy her time at Cass so far.
Nabulsi has been participating in classroom guidance lessons with Juniors in advisement and helping out students around the school. Dealing with scheduling for students may be challenging, but she–and the other counselors–manage to push through and handle the scheduling issues with grace and will. Nabulsi has been bringing good qualities and other principles into the counseling team. “She brings a very can-do attitude, and she is super up and at it about everything,” Andrew Griffin, the lead counselor explained, “She has a great personality.” She not only takes her job extremely seriously, but she also makes her work fun and enjoyable for herself and others.
Although she does take pleasure in being a counselor, this was not always the path she wanted to go for. Going into College as a freshman at the University of West Georgia, Nabulsi was originally majoring in biology because she was planning on going into the medical field. She quickly realized that biology was not for her. After her realization, she started to major in business like her older brother, however, this still was not the path for her. After talking to the college and career advisor, they recommended that she should become a psychology major. She gladly took the advice since she saw that psychology seemed to be natural for her. “My mom and grandma were teachers and my grandma had given me really good advice about looking to the people you respect and admire and following their lead too, so naturally I ended up in education,” Nabulsi elaborated. She became a psychology major and proceeded to get her master’s degree in psychology.
This might be her first year as a part of the blue and gold family, but it is not her first year being a counselor. Nabulsi has 19 years of experience with counseling. She has worked at both middle schools and high schools in Georgia and New York. She has enjoyed being a counselor at all the places she has been. Nabulsi stated, “Both are unique and have wonderful aspects, but I genuinely love being a high school counselor.” Cass has some great perspectives and a strong team when it comes to counseling. Even though Cass has a strong counseling team, there is always room for improvement. Their system is progressing and becoming more supportive. Nabulsi is a great addition to make the Cass system achieve outstanding things.
Nabulsi being an excellent counselor and bringing her all to the table is not the only thing that makes our new counselor a joy to Cass. She presents herself well and knows how to be respectful. “Every nice adjective that I can think of is a pretty accurate description of Ms. Nabulsi,” Griffin exclaimed. She makes her job fun for her and for others who may work with her. Nabulsi is empathetic and non-judgmental, two qualities that are perfect for her being a counselor.
Overall, Cass is in safe hands with their new counselor, Monal Nabulsi. She is here to help students and others. She brings smiles everyone’s face and takes her work here at Cass seriously. With Nabulsi joining the counseling department, the counselors are destined for greatness and will accomplish good feats. If you need a sweet and caring person to talk to, Nabulsi is definitely a counselor that should be on your list.
