Spring Break on a Budget
Spring Break is arriving and it’s finally time to kick back and relax before we finish off the last 2 months of school. If you haven’t made any plans yet and money is tight, here are some quick and cheap options to do over the break.
The Beach
The beach is a common destination for Spring Break because not only is it fun, but it’s an easy vacation spot. Hotel rooms and Airbnbs cost around $100 per night but less popular beaches can cost around $50. Some cheap beach areas include Clearwater Beach, FL; Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Daytona Beach, Florida; St Augustine, Florida.
The Mountains
Because of Airbnbs, renting a cabin in the mountains has become 10x easier. If you enjoy hiking, cabins and hotel prices in Gatlinburg are fairly priced and there are plenty of trails to hike. Cabins in Blue Ridge are a cheaper alternative ranging from $50-$200 and there are plenty of trails to hike as well. If you don’t want to pay for a cabin or hotel, you can always go camping. Red Top Mountain State Park and Cloudland Canyon Park State Park are two popular camping spots.
Tour Cartersville
Many of us are busy and don’t have the opportunity to explore our own town. Cartersville is a beautiful town with so many things to do. There is an art gallery downtown that is right next to the Booth Museum and you can always take a trip to the Tellus Museum. There are also plenty of places to dine downtown including 8track, Appalachain Grill, Swheat Market, etc. Off the exit is our very own Pine Mountain which is a 1-mile summit trail and another trail connected to it that is a 6.9-mile trail to the Lake.
Visit other cities in Georgia
Other cities around Cartersville offer so many activities and fun ways to spend your spring break. The Kennesaw-Atlanta area is less than an hour away and they offer a variety of food places, bowling alleys, trampoline parks, skating parks, indoor skydiving, shopping malls, etc. If you want to go further, you can take a vacation to Savannah and learn the history, go on ghost tours, enjoy the coast and peruse the artisan shops. Other great cities include Helen, Macon, Augusta, Alpharetta, and Roswell.
College Visit
If you haven’t toured any colleges but are intending on attending, this is the perfect opportunity to go tour. College students had their spring breaks already so tours are open and you will be seeing the true college experience. Make sure to sign up early before it’s too late!
