Too Incredible! The Incredibles 2

Many remember days of their youths in snapshots: broken pieces of chalk, scraped-up knees, brightly colored duct tape. Regardless of one’s upbringing, there seem to be certain staples of childhood, things everyone cherishes in their hearts, tinted by nostalgia and rose-colored glasses. Although perhaps not in the same vein as jungle gyms and woodchips, Pixar Inc. movies are certainly of the same exaltation, and many can fondly recall The Incredibles from their earlier years, having been released in 2004. In the last thirteen years, there has been a push from the fans for a sequel after the ending of the first movie hinted at a possible follow-up film. Finally, after much wait, Pixar Inc. released a trailer announcing The Incredibles 2 for June 15th, 2018.

Following the first movie, a film which chronicled the antics of a superhero family in a heartwarming and surprisingly suspenseful story that centered around strengthening the trust and bond between family members, The Incredibles 2 begins right where the last scene of The Incredibles takes off; Elastigirl (Helen) and Mr. Incredible’s (Bob) youngest child, a baby named Jack-Jack, develops superpowers that do not come with instructions or childproof safety measures. While Helen goes off to work as a life-saving hero, Bob is left at home to deal with the greatest challenge of all – domestic life.

With such a large following that craves for the same wonder the first movie gave them, The Incredibles 2 is certainly going to be quite the task. As put by Screen Rant, “This is the long-awaited sequel to Disney/Pixar’s The Incredibles, the 2004 Oscar-winning film that received widespread critical praise and earned $261.4 million at the domestic box office. The film is arriving at the peak of superhero movie popularity, which gave writer/director Brad Bird a challenge while crafting the narrative.” Nevertheless, consumers are currently not nitpicky; many agree that their anticipation far outweighs their critique, and it is already apparent how much effort the Pixar Inc. animation experts have put into the project, with touches like the visible individual seams on Mr. Incredible’s shirt in the trailer.

Everyone is waiting with bated breath as the final half-year of a fourteen-year wait comes to a close, child-like wonder sparked once again in their hearts.
