JROTC At the Special Olympics

Special Olympics is an “athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for all children…with intellectual disabilities, giving them opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community,” according to Special Olympics Georgia. When you are the host school a lot goes into preparing and running such a large event for your region. The Cass High JROTC cadets were present to set up this event on the football field. During the event, many of the cadets were “buddies”, partners to the many special needs children competing in the events. In addition to setting up, the cadets were also the last to leave after making sure that everything was put up and cleaned up. We’re proud of the Colonel Battalion for the great job they did to help make this possible.
