Beta Places at State Convention

Beta Places at State Convention

For over 5 years now, Cass High’s Beta Club has been going to the annual state convention held at the beginning of the year. According to betaclub.org, the National Beta Club is the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization in America. The club has awarded more than $6 million in scholarships since 1991. Cass’s chapter is one of 8,750 and contributes 200 members to the 500,000 throughout the nation.

The 2019 convention was held January 23 through 25 at the Convention Center in Savannah, Georgia. This year, 16 Beta members attended, and for 6 of them, it was their first convention! Sydney Coan, mentions how she “was so excited to compete in academics as a senior”. 8 students took academic tests, where they try to answer as many questions as fast as they can. Jaden Musacchio placed 4th place in the sophomore Social Studies test. The other 8 students competed in visual arts, where Trinity Byrd placed 4th for her digital art.

These students qualify for National Convention, where they will compete against all the other State winners. The convention is in Oklahoma City this Summer.
