Judy Garland was an actress, singer and overall Hollywood star. She was born June 10, 1922, in Grand Rapids, Minnesota and signed her first movie contract with MGM at age 13. However, before her career began as an actress she sang and performed with her two older sisters, Susie and Jimmie Gumm. But she’s probably most well-known for her role as Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz.

Recently, Garland has been brought back into the familiar spotlight as Hollywood is brewing up another glamorous and super-expensive feature film, a biopic about the performer’s life and romance with Mickey Deans. Starring Renee Zellweger as Garland and Finn Wittrock as Mickey Deans, the biopic will focus on her late romance with the fellow musician, who she married mere months before her death in 1969. The movie will take place roughly thirty years after Garland starred as Dorothy in the classic film, and will feature some of her greatest musical hits, such as Over the Rainbow.

Zellweger is set to portray Garland in the true story about her final concerts in London, again, months before she died of an accidental overdose. While the actress resembled Garland well enough, swapping Renee’s blonde hair for a short brunette wig practically transformed her into Garland herself. With a big, bushy brown fur coat, it’s almost as though the young star is

still with us. Renee is joined by actor Finn Wittrock, who too slipped into his role with ease. In the proper attire, maroon velvet pants and a scarf to match, the power couple was reborn.

“It is 30 years since she shot to global stardom in The Wizard of Oz, but if her voice has weakened, its dramatic intensity has only grown,” a release from one of the filmmaker’s states. “Judy is fragile,” they go on to say, “After working for 45 of her 47 years, she is exhausted; haunted by memories of a childhood lost to Hollywood; gripped by a desire to be back home with her kids. Will she have the strength to go on?” As of now, no current release date for the film has been set.
